Hawaiian Music Duo Required For Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line is casting Hawaiian Music Duos for short cruises, around one a month from San Francisco to Hilo, Hawaii. All travel is included, as well as all lodging and meals. Duos must be willing to share a bunk-bed cabin. Requirements are as follows:

This duo delivers high-energy, engaging performances by providing an authentic Hawaiian music experience to fit the itinerary. The duo can perform acoustically or with the use of backing tracks and consists of two vocalists with at least one being an instrumentalist. The Duo covers a wide range of music from traditional and contemporary playlists originating from the Hawaiian Islands, as well as popular favorites from 60s through today.

Responsibilities
• Deliver Carnival’s brand of entertainment by providing high energy and engaging musical
performances as scheduled by shipboard and/or shoreside Entertainment Management.
• Entertain in assigned venues for four hours each day.
• Perform acoustically or with backing tracks or electronic support.
• Along with performing highly engaging musical performances, offering fun insight and guest
participation with authentic Hawaiian culture preferred (dances, singalongs, stories, etc.)
• Promote other performances, activities, revenue opportunities and events onboard during
and after performances to aid in the success of the onboard program.
• Attends and participates in all assigned activities, trainings, meetings and performances.
• Demonstrate commitment to Carnival Service Values.
• Performs ship’s safety function as required including but not limited to trainings, drills,
briefings and Port Manning.

Qualifications
• Musically proficient duo consisting of:
o A guitar/ukulele/keys player (vocal ability preferred)
o A lead vocalist who doubles as an instrumentalist.
• Ability to enhance performances with the support of high-quality backing tracks and/or
electronic support.
• Ability to authentically represent the culture of the region of the itinerary.
• Ability to create and maintain a party environment with strong microphone skills.
• Repertoire of at least 250+ authentic songs from the region of the itinerary (Hawaii,
European regions, etc.) and popular music from the 1960’s through today.
• The ability to extend beyond a performer into an entertainer.
• Applicable experience as entertainment for weddings, hotels, resorts, cruise ships or other
similar venues.
• Fluent proficiency in the English language with advanced English diction skills.

90 Day Assessment/ Performance Review
• Your job proficiency and overall performance will be reviewed upon completing a 90-day
introductory probation period, which will determine your eligibility to continue
employment in your current position.
Periodic Assessments/ Performance Reviews
• Upon successful completion of your 90 day probation period, you will continue to receive
regular performance reviews during and at the end of each contract, with no more than six
months between each performance review. Additional performance reviews may be
administered at the discretion of your onboard and shoreside supervisors.
